2. Overview
HausHelden helps you share chores in a household. So that all household members see the same chores, the app stores data on a server. We only process what is needed for that:
- no ads, no tracking, no analytics or crash reporting services,
- no selling or sharing of your data for advertising,
- no location data, no contacts, no access to photos or the camera.
3. Account and sign-in
HausHelden requires an account. Depending on how you sign in, we process:
- Email and password: your email address and password. The password is only stored as an encrypted hash.
- Sign-in link by email (magic link): your email address. We send you a link or code that signs you in without a password.
- Sign in with Apple: a user identifier issued by Apple, your email address (or, if you choose, a relay address created by Apple) and your name if you share it. Provider: Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland.
- Sign in with Google: a user identifier issued by Google, your email address, your name and, if applicable, a link to your profile picture, as provided by Google. Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
We also store technical account data such as your user ID, the time of registration and last sign-in, and the IP address used to sign in (to protect against abuse).
Confirmation, sign-in and password emails are sent through the email delivery service Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., USA) as our processor. Resend receives your email address and the content of the email for this purpose.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the app under our terms of use). Storing the IP address is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is keeping accounts secure.
4. Household, chores and points
When you use the app, we store the content you and the other members of your household create:
- household: name, icon and invite code,
- your household profile: display name and profile colour,
- rooms and chores: title, description, due date, recurrence, reminder time and assigned people,
- completions: who completed which chore when, and how many points it earned,
- game progress: points, weekly streaks and unlocked achievements.
All members of your household can see this data – that is, only people whom you or another member invited with the invite code. Please share the code only with people you trust, and do not put sensitive information into chores.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
5. Notifications
HausHelden can remind you of chores, but only if you allow notifications in iOS. You can change this at any time in the iOS settings.
- Reminders for due chores are scheduled directly on your iPhone. No data is sent to us for this.
- Reminders from other household members: so that a member can nudge you about a chore, we store a push token for your device in your household profile. The message contains the sender’s display name and the chore title. It is delivered through Expo’s push service (650 Industries, Inc., USA) and the Apple Push Notification service (Apple Inc., USA).
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give in iOS and can withdraw there at any time.
6. Storage on your device
The app stores your sign-in session (so you stay signed in), your household’s identifier and scheduled reminders on your iPhone. This is strictly necessary for the app to work (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). Signing out removes this data.
7. Service providers and third countries
Our database and sign-in are operated by Supabase, Inc. as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR). The data is stored in a data centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Further recipients are the sign-in, email and push services named above.
Some of these providers are based in the USA or may access data from there. We base such transfers on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and otherwise on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).
We do not share your data with any other third parties unless we are legally required to.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as you use your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account. This immediately removes your account, your sign-in data, your household profile (display name, points, streak, push token) and your achievements.
Chores, rooms and the household itself belong to all members and remain available to the other members. For chores you created and for your completions, the link to your account is removed. If you were the last member of a household and want the household and all its chores deleted too, email us at contact@markantsoftware.de.
Our provider’s backups are overwritten automatically according to its retention periods.
9. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).
For any request, an email to contact@markantsoftware.de is enough. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz, Hintere Bleiche 34, 55116 Mainz, Germany, www.datenschutz.rlp.de.
10. Changes
When the app changes, we update this policy. The version published here applies. We will inform you about material changes in the app.
